18 year old Ere Karjalainen sets a new world record at Mobile Throwing World Championships

If you’re frustrated at work and want hurl your mobile phone at your boss you’re most unlikely to go ahead with your plans. Needless to say there are many that feel this way and end up sinking in their chair feeling powerless. Organizing a mobile phone throwing competition is a whole lot fun. It’s an excellent way to give vent to frustration and calm that murderous rage you have towards your boss.

It’s least surprising why Finnish people are more laid back and calm than most others from across the globe, they hurl mobiles phones into oblivion at the Mobile Phone World Championships. Started in Finland to raise awareness about recycling, this event has three categories in which contestants can participate.

In this year’s over the shoulder style category Ere Karjalainen, an 18 year old who attributes his success to drinking threw his mobile phone to a record breaking 101.46 meters. While this record is impressive, it has been challenged by JIM Mobile’s Belgium Championships, in which a contestant Chris Hughff managed to throw his mobile phone102.68 meters. While we let the officials decide who holds the official world record for throwing their cell phone the furthest, you can experience the joy of throwing gadgets in a competition of your own.
