Not many expected Apple’s fortune to change during the fourth quarter of 2011. However, the festive had other things in mind. The fourth quarter launched sales of Apple products to a new high making them the leaders in the market share. According to research firm Canalys, Apple is now the leader in the Global PC shipments. Based on detailed research Canalys reported that Apple had overtaken powerhouse HP who held the mantle for several years.

Devices such as Tablet PCs, desktops, laptops and notebooks were taken into account in the research. Apple reportedly shipped more than 5 million Mac devices and over 15 million iPads that marked a 17 percent stake in market share in the fourth quarter of 2011. HP the World’s biggest PC manufacturer dropped back to second position with a 12.7 percent stake in market share. Apple is soaring above its competitors solely based on its iPad sales. With Apple’s sales, marketing, and advertising strategies a cut above the rest other manufacturers of tablet PCs will have to pull up their socks to compete with iPad.
