Apple iPhone 3GS will support iOS 5 - report

Apple is geared up for the latest mobile operating system iOS 5 release. However, what’s now being discussed is whether or not it will work as expected on the iPhone 3GS.  Appe CEO, Steve Jobs now puts curious minds to rest as he had nodded in the affirmative as part of his WWDC keynote. In fact the new iOS  supports the iPad, and iPad 2, the 3G and 4G iPod touch, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS.

Now this maybe what most had anticipated or were waiting to here, the question that remains is how it would work on older hardware. The iOS 4 release so them take the iPhone 3G under their wings but it was later discovered that installation turned the device into a tortoise that hardly seemed to be working. An update released by the company came with a promise the restore speed but that didn’t work as expected either.

That saw Apple withdraw iOS 4 support for older iPhones beginning with iOS 4.3. So, will limitations persist, and will iOS 5 installation on iPhone 3GS stall functions. Developers have access to the new OS, and there’s a video that shows iOS 5 operating smoothly on an iPhone 3GS but the final version is yet awaited, and would functionality be achieved at the cost of axing some iOS 5 to achieve optimized performance on the iPhone 3GS.
