Apple iPhone is the most expensive smartphone in the Indian market, priced at Rs. 45,500 for the base model, however, e-commerce site Snapdeal has lowered prices of this phone making it available for customers at Rs. 43,999 (16GB). This is great news as after budget sessions, Indian government has hiked taxes for phones that cost more than Rs. 2000.
iPhone 5 is available in three variants namely 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Slashing of prices by e-commerce site Snapdeal will enable individuals to buy 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants at Rs. 43,999, which is Rs. 1,500 less than the official box price.
Apart from iPhone 5, prices of its sister models iPhone 4 and 4S have been slashed by Snapdeal making them available for Rs. 25,990 and Rs.35,500 respectively.
Products like the iPad and iPad mini are being sold at official market rates on this site. Lowering of prices will enable many customers to opt for Apple iPhone 5 rather than HTC Butterfly and BlackBerry Z10. This could be a game changer for the smartphone market as many e-commerce sites might follow suit and slash rates of products.
