In current times images in computer games do look the real deal, but are yet not there in terms of graphics potential. By 2022 the face of computer games is expected to change drastically. Experts point out, computer graphics in games will be so advanced it will be difficult to distinguish images from reality and those from the virtual world. Visual effects artists are of the opinion that within a decade the advances in technology will be such that it will be hard to tell what has been created by a computer and what has been filmed in real life.
Jorge Jimenez a graphic expert who works for Activision Blizzard, a game studio has created stunning images of how a face can be rendered in real time, indicating what the future would be like. His technology will be unveiled at a conference in the US and will make its ways in games soon.
Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Visual Effects Supervisor, Kim Libreri, said” It’s an interesting time with modern computer graphics hardware, the way it’s going, it’s gonna be pretty hard to tell the difference between something that is interactive and rendered in real time, and something that was done for an animated TV show, or even live action thing…Today we’re matching the quality of an animated movie seven or eight years ago, and another 10 years from now it’s going to be indistinguishable from reality.”
