DMCA makes Jailbreaking iPhones legal

Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) has approved Jailbreaking of iPhones as a legal act which till date was considered illegal. With Jailbreaking, you become the true owner of your phone and can install third party applications from sites like Cydia, other than iTunes. This is a breakthrough for many iPhone and iPod owners who were not allowed the freedom of installing applications other than approved by Apple.

Apple has also announced the launch of unlocked iPhones in Hong Kong and Canada as of now. But Jailbreaking is completely “At your OWN risk”, as your products warranty voids the minute you Jailbreak. Benefits of Jailbreaking are as follows;

•    You can change mobile carriers at your wish
•    Bypass broken dongles
•    Decrypt DVD’s
•    Unlock e-books to allow read aloud feature
•    Cracking video games

It is still illegal according to DMCA to distribute any of the following publicly;

•    Product
•    Technology
•    Service
•    Device or any of its part.
