Foxconn confirms 3rd death at plant linked to iPad

Foxconn is the world’s best known manufacturer of iPad who have their ties with Hon Hai of Taiwan. Sunday brought in more bad news for the company as there was confirmed news of a third death that had occurred on the plant situated in the southwest of China. This death was due to a massive flare up at the plant and it linked to assembly of Apple iPad.

Initial investigation by a team of government staff and law enforcement authorized personnel states that the blast which occurred and resulted in the death of the employee was due to combustible dust in a duct which took place at the polishing site of the company’s workshop.

Besides the three personnel who died, the company also stated that 15 of their employees were injured, six of who were discharged from hospital after first aid but the remaining employees were still under treatment.

Following this blast, Foxconn plant at Chengdu has been closed down and all operations and production is at a standstill till investigations are complete.
