GM has announced that it will be launching 4G LTE services across its range of vehicles to help boost connectivity and enhance communication possibilities.
Vehicles across the range of trucks and passenger vehicles will benefit from inclusion of these services. These vehicles include 2015 Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. Highlight of the 4G LTE services is that they boast of internet speeds that are 10 times faster than traditional 3G services. Increased speeds will help boost in-vehicle communications and enhance entertainment options. Using this service GM users will be able to make use of Wi-Fi hotspots, in- vehicle entertainment options which includes streaming of videos and audio files as also faster application downloads and real time updates. In short, the vehicle will act as its own mobile device thereby allowing vehicles to interact with others to enhance convenience, efficiency and safety of drivers and passengers.
This new 4G LTE structure has been designed specifically for use in vehicles and features a system that is connected to the electrical system and supported by an exterior antenna for increased range and coverage. The new system will be developed by GM and AT&T for users in US and Canadian markets and is expected to reach 300 million individuals by end of 2014.
