Govt. of India wants right to use data of Google, Skype, Twitter

As a means of enhancing and updating national security measures, the Government of India has clarified to social networking sites that they must meet all required security standards.  All necessary information and data should be accessible to Govt. of India and security agencies for time to time scrutiny.

Due to security concerns over BlackBerry, security agencies in India have asked the Union Telecom Ministry to ensure access to scrutiny of social network sites like Google, Twitter and Skype. Speaking on the occasion, at an event in New Delhi,  Mr. Sachin Pilot, Ministry of State for Communications & IT told the press that certain companies have been approached to give access to information.   Security agencies should have access to this information due to safety reasons and uncertainty prevailing in the country.

Earlier Govt. of India had approached Research in Motion who is responsible for Blackberry services to allow access of all BlackBerry Internet Services, Messenger and its Enterprise Servers.  This they felt was necessary due to recent and rampant terrorist activities.
