In a survey conducted by Sophos, an internet security analytic firm, India found its way through as the second highest spam producer just behind the United States. Accumulating about 7.7 percent of total spam, India lies behind America, as the US has recorded 15.2 percent. The list is followed by Brazil and UK close behind wherein the latter has risen to the fourth spot from the ninth.
The list comprises of several other important countries like South Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and others. As suggested by Sophos, these spam files are criminally motivated attempts to steal identity and bank account information.
Indicating that spam is a global problem set to rise, experts at the firm say that the menace can only be controlled through up to date security and showing constraint while surfing the net or opening links. Spam even accounts for less productivity as they affect network resources.
