Everything went well for Android in the year 2010. Google’s Android OS captured a significant share in the market leaving its competitor Apple far behind. However, things did not go as planned for android in the year 2011. Apple iPad held its reigns firmly in 2011 to gain back lost ground in the market share. The fourth quarter of 2011 took Android to the whipping post. The sales during the festive season took off for Apple iPad. Apple sold a jaw dropping 66.9 million tablets worldwide in 2011.
Although iPad sales figures tell a predictable story, industry experts reveal that numerous brands are pushing Android sales and it will be a matter of time before Android closes in on its competitor iPad. However, most experts also pointed out that if Android are to surpass iPad, it will require more than just marketing strategies, sales campaigns and creating awareness, changing the mindset of users would be the detrimental factor that makes or breaks Android platforms.
