Kolkata wants Microsoft to set up base in city

In a bid to open its doors to the IT sector in a big way, Mr. Partha Chatterjee, IT Minister of Bengal has appealed to Microsoft to set up a base in the state.  He has also assured of all the possible assistance from Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee.

Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman of Microsoft India was present at a seminar held at Bengal Chamber of Commerce.  He heard Mr. Chatterjee request for Microsoft to invest in Bengal and was happy at the assurances given. Among the leading IT companies, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Cognizant Technical Solutions and Tata Consultancy Services present in Bengal, Microsoft is not in attendance and the state would like their investment to contribute to Bengal’s IT industry as well.

Bengal has witnessed considerable brain drain in recent times and would like to bring in as much incentive to counter this problem and make Bengal a state of great IT opportunities in the future.
