Earlier leaked reports about a Windows 8 based tablet under the Lenovo banner had emerged on various tech websites. Now, Lenovo has officially announced that their 10.1 Windows 8 slate will start shipping towards end of October. The upcoming device has been christened ThinkPad Tablet 2.
Although the company has not provided complete details about specifications it has disclosed that the tablet will be running Windows 8 Pro powered by an Intel Atom CPU. Sites in the US that have received the press release reveal the tablet has a 10 inch IPS screen with a pixel resolution of 1366x768. The device has a 2 megapixel camera in front and an 8 mp camera on it rear. This slate has a micro HDMI-Out and full size USB port. Other features include fingerprint reader and a digitizer pen for handwriting input.
The device supports Wi-Fi and NFC and 3G/$G connectivity is optional. Also optional is a dock with 3 HDMI-Out USB ports and LAN. This tablet is 9.8mm thin, weighs 600 grams and boasts of a battery life of 10 hours. Lenovo will be announcing pricing details of its ThinkPad Tablet 2 soon.
