Popular brands LG, Motorola and Sony have done relatively well in the Indian market. The feature phone segment in India is fiercely competitive. LG, Motorola and Sony are keen to shift focus on the top end smartphone segment in India. It makes perfect sense, why these companies are in a rush to target the high end smartphone segment.
Unlike the feature phone segment in India, the smartphone segment has less competition. Moreover, India is going to be the smartphone capital of the world. Manufacturers are well aware of the rising demand for feature rich smartphones among the business class in India. At present only the likes of Apple, HTC and Samsung are sharing a huge chunk of the sales pie in the smartphone segment.
LG, Motorola, Sony, and Acer will take a similar approach adopted by Apple and HTC to penetrate into the lucrative high-end smartphone segment in India. Chief Marketing Officer LK Gupta, LG expressed “We are focusing on smartphones and not low-end mass segment as a global strategy. This year will have an impressive lineup of smartphones in our portfolio”.
