Mercedes Benz presented its COMAND navigation system, provides one with updated traffic information at a rapid pace. The system has been designed so as to enhance safety and comfort of passengers.Using the system an individual can plan their driving route so as to avoid traffic snarls and reach their destination without a problem. Rapid transfer of traffic updates has been made possible due to a partnership between Daimler, TomTom and Deutsche Telekom.
Later years will see users get updated traffic information via Mercedes Benz Live Traffic. Communication infrastructure specially designed for this purpose will be made available by Deutsche Telekom. TomTom will provide real time traffic information through its HD Traffic service function. The information thus relayed will be fed into the COMAND navigation system which has the ability to pinpoint a route map accurately to within 100 meters. Apart from receiving traffic updates from TomTom, the cars built in system relays traffic scenarios its passing through to the server station every two minutes. Live Traffic service will be available in Mercedes Benz vehicles by the end of this year. Highlights of the COMAND navigation system are that it will be available to users in UK, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Denmark Portugal and Luxemburg free of charge for three years. Apps like TuneIn radio, HRS Hotelfinder, Newsreading Function, National Travel Information and Mercedes Benz services will also be available to users. Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call system has been provided so that in case of an emergency the Mercedes Benz Emergency Call Center can respond immediately.
