For those who crib about cell phone battery drain there‘s good news. Micromax has announced the launch of its X259 Dual Sim feature phone that has an inbuilt solar panel which keeps the phone running for 1.5 hours under sunlight for 3 hours. This handset has 2.4 inch QVGA display and a 0.3 VGA camera on the rear.
The 1000 mAh Li-ion battery is good for 5 hours when fully juiced up. Other features include GPRS, Bluetooth, and FM radio with recording. Solar panel dimensions are, 4.6 inch (l) x 2 inch (w) x 0.6 inch, 16 mm (d). Micromax has got it right with price. At Rs 2500 the feature packed X259 will entice customers.
This cell phone has undergone several field tests in Indian weather conditions. The company claims the solar panel strength will vary in accordance with weather conditions in different parts of the country. Samsung had launched a solar powered phone Solar Guru (E1107) which fared disastrously in the Indian market. Let’s hope it all works well for Micromax’s X259.
