Microsoft Corporation is all pumped up as it prepares to launch its next generation high powered tablets - Surface with Windows 8 OS. At a media event in Los Angeles the world’s largest software company discussed ambitious plans to take on its rival Apple. Users have already started downloading the pre- release version of Windows 8 for touch screen devices, laptops and PCs.
Although there have been mixed reactions amongst users, several users on forums of tech sites have expressed their concerns with the new interface. On the flip side several reviewers have praised the new Metro interface used on Windows 8. An official launch of Windows is expected to take place this autumn.
Analysts speculate it’s not going to be easy for Microsoft. With Apple’s iPad dominating the tablet segment, Microsoft’s next generation Windows 8 powered tablet will need a miracle to overthrow the leader. However, experts also point out that the ultra-efficient ARM Holdings chips used in Microsoft’s upcoming tablets will have their share of manic followers.
