Nokia has announced that they along with Microsoft would be offering the first smartphone based on Windows OS which is ready for the Indian markets. This is most likely to make Nokia recover some of its market share which it has lost in recent times.
Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 both are priced at $580 and $380 respectively will be ready for sale from December just in time for the Christmas season. Mr. D Shivakumar, Managing Director of Nokia India said that the success of any smartphone is decided with 3 to 4 weeks of its launch. They are sure of this Smartphone’s success as they have already trained their distributors, retails and dealers who will be able to sell Nokia Windows to a ready group of smartphone enthusiasts.
Nokia unveiled these 2 smartphones just ahead of Apple who will be launching their iPhone 4S on November 24th. Though Nokia fell to No 3 in the smartphone markets with Samsung and Apple in first two positions it has not deterred the company from being sure that they will have an annual growth of 50% from 2010-15 due to 3G services and increased data usage. The Lumia range will have maps of 100 countries and 750 cities across India and will be free on these smartphones.
