Microsoft has officially announced launch of Office 2013 for Windows 8. Designed to work with touch application devices, touch keyboards, and styluses the suite software will also support social networking. Users of Windows RT users will be able to access Office Home and Student 2013 RT editions offering OneNote, PowerPoint, Word and Excel applications.
The software suite will also be compatible with Windows 8 ARM based devices, including Microsoft Surface. The cloud based nature of Office 2013s has earned significant praise in tech circles. Being just software Office 2013 also doubles up to being a service. As all documents are saved by default to SkyDrive, users can access them across devices.
The new application comes equipped with a service known as Yammer which allows secure file sharing and network with contacts. Another feature on this that will be loved by social network users is People Card. This feature allows users to display contact information, status updates, activity feeds, and profile pictures at a central location streamed through LinkedIn or Facebook accounts. Although Student and Home 2013 RT editions will come equipped with Windows RT tablets, pricing details have not been announced by Microsoft.
