Taking note of rising trends in the smartphone market, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has said that the company was still in contention to be the best brand and it will be launching a new phone this year.
The new range of Windows Phone 8 smartphones from Nokia are doing well currently. However, with launch of Sony's Xperia Z and Xperia ZL and flagship model Galaxy S4, market for Nokia phones has dropped considerably. Apart from this, Android phones are a new craze amongst customers as they offer premium features at reasonable prices. Nokia will have to come out with a good mid segment phone in order to win over customers as its exorbitantly priced high end segment isn't bringing in business as thought of.
On an optimistic note, the CEO mentioned that sales for the first quarter of 2013 were better than Q4 of 2012 and hoped that with a new set of products the company would grow slowly yet surely. When asked about the Lumia 928, Stephen Elop dodged the questions and moved onto other topics.
The alleged Nokia Lumia 928 model is rumored to be equipped with similar features of the Lumia 920 excepting for a silver aluminum body which is different from the poly carbonate body of the Lumia 920.
