Samsung asked to pay $ 1.05 Billion by court to Apple for violating patents

A court ruled in favor of Apple ordering Samsung to pay $ 1.05 Billion in damages for infringement of Apple’s patents. Earlier, Apple had filed a lawsuit against Samsung claiming the Korean company had infringed on its smartphone and tablet designs making an appeal in excess of $ 2.5 million in damages. Samsung had counter sued Apple for infringing some of its UI related patents.

Apple had presented sufficient evidence in court which went against Samsung. However this win for Apple is not the end. Both Apple and Samsung have been involved in a fierce battle with lawsuits pending in courts in various countries.

After the win Apple issued a statement that read” We are grateful to the jury for their service and for investing the time to listen to our story and we were thrilled to be able to finally tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trial showed that Samsung’s copying went far deeper than even we knew. The lawsuits between Apple and Samsung were much more than patents or money. They were about values.
