Samsung Galaxy S3 hits the right note (review)

The most awaited Android smartphone has finally arrived. Everybody is aware of the fact that the Next generation Galaxy SGS 3 has received its fair share of praise. Smartphone enthusiasts have huge expectations and yes, Samsung may well surpass all expectations with its newest offering.

Curvier design on the edges gives SGS 3 its unique identity. The pebble inspired design is indeed visually stunning. This smartphone is a rather big but fits comfortably in the hand. A faux metal strip runs across through the sides of the device. Layout of Galaxy SGS 3 is simple with just three buttons below its 4.5 inch touchscreen.

There’s a Super Amoled screen that offers 1280x720 pixel resolution, and yes, it’s sharp. The 8 megapixel camera may not be a rage with photographers; however mainstream users will love its vibrancy with backlit-illuminated sensor, and 1080p resolution video capture. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel secondary camera.

Brightness on the device could have been much better but having said that, there’s no reason to complain. Samsung SGS 3 is powered with a quad-core processor, Exynos, built using ARM technology. CPU runs at 1.4 GHz, and the device uses a Mali 400 graphics processor. SGS 3 is incredibly fast, especially during multitasking. Unlike other smartphones that suffer from battery drain during multitasking, this one lasts surprisingly long.

There’s support for microSD card up to 64 GB. The next generation Touchwiz user interface with customized Samsung skin does make a huge difference. Unlike most smartphones that are complex to navigate, the SGS 3 is very simple to use. Unique features such as Smart Say and Direct Calling will give this device an edge over its competitors. GPS navigation on smartphones has not been the best.

However, the GPS navigation feature on Samsung SGS3 is fast and accurate. The device uses latest version of Android 4.0.3, Ice cream Sandwich. Tech analysts believe this smartphone is expected to be priced at Rs 34,000. However, Samsung has yet to make an announcement in regard with price of the smartphone in India. All in all Samsung SGS 3 is an able performer with a whole lot of oomph.
