Samsung has unveiled its Mega Galaxy Handset which looks more like a tablet than a smartphone due to its large 6.3 inch screen.
The device is targeted at customers who frequently use their handsets to view movies and videos. Though it boasts of a huge 6.3 inch HD screen the phone is thin and portable making it easy to hold or carry about in ones pocket unlike tablets.
Mega Galaxy provides users with features of both tablets and smartphones so as to provide one with a seamless user experience. With Samsung announcing that it has set it sights on dominating the Android phablet market launch of the Mega Galaxy in 5.8 inch and 6.3 variants will further strengthen its position in the market. These devices will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will be powered by dual core processors. The 6.3" variant will run on the 1.7 GHz processor while the 5.8" will be powered by a 1.4 GHz dual core processor. A 3,200 mAh battery will power the 6.3" handset while a 2,600 mAh battery will power the 5.8" variant. tThese devices will be available in two color variants namely black and white.
Apart from a 6.3" HD screen the bigger phablet boasts of an 8MP primary camera and a 1.9MP secondary camera, microSD card support till 64GB. It will be available in 8GB and 16GB variants to customers. The 5.8" variant possesses the same features with an exception of screen size and internal memory(8GB variant only).
Software experience on both devices is the same with apps like ChatOn, S Translator, WatchON, S Memo, S Planner and Samsung's Group Play among others coming pre installed. Though pricing hasn't been revealed these devices are expected to hit European and then Russian markets by May 2013.
