Sergey Brin who along with Larry Page cofounded Google gave vent to his feeling recently. In a rare public outburst, the usually reserved Brin was at his animated best spewing fire on governments and targeting Facebook and Apple. His ire was targeted towards governments and companies that have created walled gardens to ensure control and authority over users, calling them crusaders of personal gain.
Brin’s comments have come at a time when governments in various countries are using authority and right to gain control of the way people choose to use the internet. Brin’s comments also come in the backdrop of Hollywood Movie Studios trying desperately to clamp down on the web in the hope of curbing piracy.
He added that the web is an open source and that every individual in the world should have the right to use in accordance with his/ her requirement. Brin emphasized on the fact that adhering to somebody else’s rules and restrictive policies is not the way the web is supposed to be. He said when Google was developed it was done so that individuals could seek the services of a Genie free. He added, now, the Genie is bottled due to selfish motive and personal gain.
