Skype launches video calls for Android phone users

Microsoft who has invested over $8.5 million in buying Skype is all set to bring in a new service for Android phone users. This will permit all Android phone and Apple iPhone users to make video calls to Skype contacts free of charge.

Mr. Neil Stevens, head of Product and Marketing at Skype said that the company was ready to introduce Skype video calling. This new introduction will assist Microsoft to promote Windows Phone along with Nokia. Skype sees about 145 million users and they made 207 billion minutes of calls combined which accounted for about 42% of video calls.

Though video calling facilities have just been introduced and yet in its formative stages, internet calling has reached great heights and saw a growth of 12.6 percent in one year.

Android handsets which will support Skype video will be Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and HTC Desire 5 as also will Google Nexus S.
