To ensure its dominance in the gaming segment is strengthened further, Sony Inc has acquired California based Gaikai cloud gaming service for a staggering $380 million. With Gaikai under its belt Sony will ensure data transmission between cloud servers and users takes place without delays. Analysts point out; this is a big move by Sony that is eager to dominate future online gaming.
According to the Telegraph, Takashi Oka an analyst from Tokyo was quoted saying “It’s a positive move that shows Sony is focusing on online gaming services”. Paying close attention to how things unfold for Sony will be Microsoft who has announced ambitious plans for the future in the gaming segment.
Sony’s gaming unit Head, Andrew House said “Sony will deliver a world class cloud streaming service that allows users to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet- connected devices”.
