If you get all worked up and are unable to figure out what causes stress levels to escalate, thanks to a software development, your smartphone may soon be your savior. The talked-about software is able to detect stress from your voice.
StressSense is a system that is programmed to get first acquainted to the user’s unstressed voice. The person using this system is required to read a 3 minute passage from a book in a relaxed state of mind into their phone. The StressSense system uses this preprogrammed recording of the user and compares it with programmed knowledge of stress induced changes such as faster rates of speech and clipped frequency spectrum. Any instances of stress detected by the system are created in a log.
Developer of this system Hong Lu of Intel, Santa Clara, California said “Our stress mode also adapts to different background noise environments”. Lu will be presenting StressSense at next month’s Ubicomp conference to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
