A tablet labeled ‘Thrive’ by Toshiba is expected to be up for sale in July this year. This 10 inch tablet will enter the already thriving tablet market. Though actual prices have not been revealed yet, sources suggest that it will be priced below the Apple iPad 2.
Close to the heels of the launch of ‘Thrive’, come other companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Research in Motion Ltd., who are all set to enter the tablet market with new launches.
Mr. Jeff Barney, General Manager of Toshiba America said that this tablet is a Wi-Fi device with the entry level model starting at $429 and is basically for home use only.
Booking will open on 13th of this month and can be sourced from Best Buy Co. Inc. and Amazon.com besides other dealers across America. Sales are targeted at 50 million during the year. Barney stated that though Apple still has monopoly for the iPad, there is a growing demand for other tablets as well.
Thrive comes with a removable battery, HD video display and an excellent device for gaming, eBooks and browsing.
