Vodafone to launch Solar Powered mobile phone in India

Vodafone has announced to launch a new handset VF247 in India. It will be available at all Vodafone outlets from next month at an approximate value of Rs 1500. This unique device will be a boon for many Indian villagers, who still don’t have access to continuous electrical supply. Once charged VF247 will give 4 hours of talk time and stand by time of over 8 days.

VF247 is capable of charging itself from whatever kind of daylight available. The phone does not need direct sunlight to charge itself. Keeping it in a room where there is daylight, is enough to get this phone to charge itself. To be fully charged, VF247 requires 8 hours of exposure to indirect sunlight. More features on offer include an LED torch, FM receiver and a color screen.
